Aging skin is an inescapable fact. Prematurely aging skin is NOT. Nowadays – more than ever before – there are ways of preserving our skin and keeping our youthful looks into middle and even old age.
And if the ravages of time are already showing up, well take heart! Some of the damage can be reversed without resorting to surgery and without taking out a second mortgage! Pretty exciting? Well, read on . . . .
There are two types of aging. Chronological aging is caused by time and your particular genetic code. Skin gradually loses its elasticity and dries out. It also becomes thinner as it gradually loses the subcutaneous fat layer under the surface.
Added to that, older skin will take almost double the time to renew itself – around five to six weeks – as young skin. Oh, and did I mention gravity? Yes, it all sounds pretty dreadful, but it can be helped!
Pretty much all premature aging (photo-aging) can be attributed to the sun which further dries the skin, causes pigmentation, and damages the connective tissues, collagen, and elastin,(which hold the whole thing together!)
So take sensible precautions like wearing a hat outdoors and wearing a good sun block with an SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 15. That will dramatically slow the damage.
Like the rest of the human body, the skin will attempt to repair and regenerate itself but only if the outside damage is minimized and only if the body is provided with optimum nutrition and enough sleep.
Make sure any product you apply before bed is manufactured especially for aging skin and is going to feed the skin with the moisture and nutrients it needs to help it repair itself overnight, this is the perfect time for the skin to regenerate while the body is at rest.
If I could take only one skin cream with me to a desert island it would have to be Revitacel. This anti-aging lotion is specially formulated for mature skin and applied to damp skin after cleansing, it will be absorbed fast and will improve skin elasticity and soothe out wrinkles.
It’s never too late to start improving aging skin, but what if wrinkles are already deeply etched on your face? Is there anything you can do? Absolutely!
Many people turn to Botox injections to lessen the wrinkles that photo-aging has etched on their faces. Even if you don’t mind needles, bear in mind that injecting Botox may cause bruising and bleeding.
Another more serious side effect is infection. Safer and more “user friendly” is a product called Hydroderm. This great textured lotion has a similar effect to Botox but without the trauma!
Made from marine collagen and Vyo-Serum, it has the ability to transfer collagen directly to the dermis and epidermis via a groundbreaking new delivery system. The difference should be noticeable in just a few weeks!
